Dr. Deborah Sullivan, Professor of Family & Consumer Sciences Education, has been recognized with Ashland University's Board of Trustees Annual Academic Mentor Award for 2011-2012.

Annual Academic Mentor Awards luncheon.

This student-nominated award provides students an opportunity to show their appreciation of a faculty member, staff person, or academic administrator as their mentor. The educational experience of students is materially enhanced when a mentor relationship is established and maintained. Ashland University wants to recognize this contribution and "Accent on the Individual" to students.

Dr. Sullivan was nominated by Jessica Sommer, a senior from Minster, Ohio majoring in Family & Consumer Sciences Education.

"I feel I have been personally impacted in my composure and the way I present myself. I love and would love to achieve a level of professionalism the way Dr. Sullivan has. Just in the way she communicates and presents herself is indescribable. She can make you feel so comfortable and at home and is the most pleasant and gracious person to talk to," says Sommer.

A luncheon recognizing the 2011-2012 mentors was held on January 27, 2012.

Dr. Sullivan joined AU in 1983. She received her B.S. from AU, a M.Ed. from Pennsylvania State University, and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University.
