FCS Alumna Co-Authors Book

Ashland University Family & Consumer Sciences alumna Alicia A. (Cannon) Bogard, MSW, LISW, has co-authored a book titled “My Life’s Reflection: A Life Review Workbook.”

Bogard and her colleague, Samantha A. Bechtel, MSSW, LISW, wrote the book, which is meant for all ages and is designed to help document a person’s individual story and legacy.

“The first half of the book is a reflection on your life’s story…record memories of your family history, experiences and what was happening in the world as you grew up. There are spaces to include photographs as well,” Bogard said.

The second half of the book provides an educational grief section with resources on topics associated with death and dying.

The book’s publisher, Tate Publishing and Enterprises, said that Bogard and Bechtel applied their combined experience of working in hospice, with social workers, and as grief counselors to write this book with the hopes that it be used as a source of peace as one prepares to transition from this life into the next.

Bogard graduated from Ashland University in 2005 with a bachelor of science degree in child & family studies. She went on to earn a master’s degree in social work and is a licensed independent social worker.

The book is available through Tate Publishing and Enterprises and can be purchased online at
