Dr. Deborah Sullivan Starts Term as OAFCS President

     Dr. Deborah Sullivan was installed as president of the Ohio affiliate of the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) on March 23rd at the annual Ohio meeting in Dublin, Ohio. Dr. Sullivan’s three-year term began last summer, as president elect, when she accepted the position at the national convention in Phoenix. Her term as president will run through 2013, then, she will serve as counselor through 2014.
     The mission of the AAFCS is to provide leadership and support for professionals whose work assists individuals, families and communities in making informed decisions about their well-being, relationships and resources to achieve optimal quality of life.
     Dr. Sullivan has served in many capacities at the state and national levels, including co-advisor of student unit and annual meeting committee; vice president of program; long-range planning committee; and membership chairperson at the state level; and as council for certification, 2007-2010; higher education and technology division; and strategic planning phase 2 ad hoc committee at the national level.

passes on the "torch" to Dr. Sullivan.


     Dr. Sullivan has been with Ashland University's Family and Consumer Sciences Department for 28 years. She is the lead professor in the Family and Consumer Sciences Education program and served as department chairperson for 16 years.
